'We cannot let him get away with it': Joe Biden calls for Trump's impeachment for the first time

Former Vice President Joe Biden announced his support for House Democrats' impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump in a campaign speech on Wednesday.  Donald Trump has violated his oath of office, betrayed this nation and committed impeachable acts, Biden told a crowd in New Hampshire. He should be impeached. The president was quick to respond to Biden on Wednesday, repeating his unfounded accusations that Biden and his son Hunter engaged in corrupt activity in Ukraine.  So pathetic to see Sleepy Joe Biden, who with his son, Hunter, and to the detriment of the American Taxpayer, has ripped off at least two countries for millions of dollars, calling for my impeachment - and I did nothing wrong, Trumpm tweeted. Joe's Failing Campaign gave him no other choice! Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories.

No president in American history has ever dared to engage in such unimaginable behavior, he said. With his words, and his actions, President Trump has indicted himself by obstructing justice, refusing to comply with the congressional inquiry. He's already convicted himself in full view of the world and the American people.

Biden added that Trump is shooting holes in the Constitution, and we cannot let him get away with it.

Biden went on, Trump isn't just testing us, he's laughing at us. He has no sense of decency ... We have to prove him wrong.

House Democrats initiated an impeachment inquiry following recent revelations that Trump asked the Ukrainian president to investigate Biden and his son Hunter shortly after freezing $391 million in military aid to the country.

Biden's announcement comes as support for the impeachment inquiry has reached new highs. According to a Washington Post/Schar School poll released Tuesday, a whopping 58% of American adults support House Democrats' impeachment probe while 49% think the president should be removed from office.
